Green Tourism in the Red Rose County

Tourism in Lancashire is as popular as ever, with visitors to rural areas and the countryside as well as traditional tourism destinations.

Lancashire has a wealth of green attractions. Country Parks cover acres of open countryside to be enjoyed and explored on the many miles of footpaths and bridleways. Nature reserves reveal a wealth of woodland, grassland, marine and fresh water habitats and a variety of bird, animal, plant and insect species.

Other attractions include visitor centres that provide an excellent base to learn about the environment of Lancashire and green lifestyles through displays, exhibitions, illustrations and activities. These centres offer an insight into local environmental matters, and how their work with local people and businesses makes a valuable contribution to Lancashire's environment, countryside and communities.

The tourism industry is trying to become as environmentally sensitive as possible, and put something back into protecting and managing the environment. Go to the search page, to find places to stay and attractions or visitor centres which take environmental issues into account.
